Wireless Hill
Telefunken Drive, Ardross
Wireless Hill is a very special spot to visit. It sits on a 40-hectare park in Ardross that was once the Applecross Wireless Station, an early radio station in Western Australia.
Apart from having the average suburban park features, you’ll discover upon visiting here that there are some very unique experiences to be had.
The observation tower, once known as 'Yagan's Lookout', sits at the top of the hill and has the most incredible 360 degree view.
A network of communication pipes are a great addition to the playground and speak to the heritage of the site.
In addition to the nest swing and communication pipes, there are also nice wooden stepping logs that kids can balance along.
There are also extensive walking trails (for varying fitness levels) throughout the surrounding bushland and in wildflower season you can witness blooms of wattles, grevilleas, orchids and kangaroo paws.
To learn more about the history and heritage of the site, visit the ‘Wireless Hill Telecommunications Museum'. The Museum is open: Wednesday & Friday’s, 10-2pm and Sundays, 12-4pm. To make a booking or check availability, click here.
BBQ facilities are available for public use. There are also lots of seating available for picnics.
