Camp at Honeymoon Pool in Collie’s spectacular Wellington National Park.

When you are ready, you can head out on the Jabitj Trail that runs all the way to the Wellington Dam kiosk.

The trail is a 12km return, but you can turn back whenever you are ready and head back to camp for stories and a hot chocolate.

The campsite is well equipped and the sites are large with a real forest feel.

You can hear the Collie River running gently over rocks from every site and it is a great spot to let the kids muck around on foot or on their mountain bikes.​

The forest canopy provides shade, dappled to dense, all over the campsite and in summer the temperatures down here average about five degrees cooler than in Perth.

Another great element is the topography. Wellington National Park is home to rolling hills, valleys and beautiful vistas that are a welcome change from WA’s general flatness.

Don’t forget bathers; there are some great pools along the river for a dip. 

Wellington Dam is a great place to paddle, as are some sections of the Collie River (at the right time of year) – so if you can borrow a kayak and bring it on your roof, you definitely won’t regret it. 

There are so many great tracks for walking and mountain biking, so definitely bring your walking shoes and bikes if you have them.

There is water at the campsite but it has to be boiled before use, so maybe think about bringing drinking water with you.
