Conto's Campground
Conto Rd, Boranup
288 km from Perth
Level: Medium (some amentities)
Immerse yourself in nature and get back to basics with a trip to Conto’s Campground!
Campsites are nestled among the peppermint trees with a number of campground ‘loops’, and a total of 116 campsites, to choose from.
We'd recommend you ring the campground before booking to find out which loop would best suit your group.
For example, campsites in the ‘Davies’ loop are smaller and more intimate - surrounded by bush and well suited to small groups. By contrast, the Hamelin loop campsites are large and open, ideal for groups with multiple families.
The campground has direct access to the ‘Cape to Cape’ walking track and a short walk/bike ride towards the coast will reward you with some spectacular views.
If you want to explore further but have young kids with you whose little legs might not manage hours of hiking, take a left on your drive out of the campsite to access Contos Springs Beach (approximately a 10 minute drive along Conto road). The road is gravel but accessible to most two-wheel-drive cars.
The town of Margaret River is also just 20 minutes from Conto campground, where you can stock up on drinking water, food and camp supplies.
Insider Info
There are fire rings at each site with campfires typically permitted mid-April to end-November.
A 10-15 minute drive down Conto Road (past Conto Spring Beach) will reward you with some stunning coastal scenery.

Lake Cave is a couple minutes drive from the campground and is truly magical - the tranquil lake within the cave is quite spectacular, reflecting the incredible crystal ‘decoration’ dripping from the roof.

A twenty minute drive south on Caves Road and you’ll reach Hamelin Bay where most mornings and afternoons in summer you’ll have the opportunity to meet the stingrays.
A twenty minute drive north on Caves Road and you’ll reach the Margaret River Mouth Beach - a great spot for paddling, running down the dunes in to the rivermouth or kayaking/paddling upstream.
